We both wanted some pizza last Sunday. As we also had to pick up some things from Harris Teeter, we decided to finally try Fire Works Pizza. This location, in the beginning, was a coal-fired pizza place. Somewhere along the line, it changed hands. Now Fireworks is there and instead of coal-fired pizza, they served wood-fired pizza. Much of their business consists of takeout orders. Still, besides us, there were others who were dining in. After we were seated, the manager brought us glasses of water. It took a bit of time but our server did show up. She took our pizza and drink order. Wondering what size pizza we should get, I asked her if the 10 inch was enough for two. She said it was more like an individual pizza and suggested we order the 14 inch. We agreed and ordered the Margherita pizza. It turned out to be a perfect size for two. To drink, I had a glass of ginger ale, while my husband had a Bud Lite (it was the only lite beer available). We liked this pizza, the crust was thin but pliable. Thus, we were able to easy fold the slices and eat without needing silverware (well...the forks came in handy when some tomato pieces fell off the slices). The sauce was quite good with nice tomato flavor and small pieces of fresh tomatoes. The mozzarella and basil portions were generous. As for the ambiance, the artwork displayed consisted of bright red and bright orange images that evoked flames. It was colorful and indeed it did make us think of their wood-fired oven. :) We would consider returning in the future.

Had a last minute shift of a birthday party and just looked up this place on yelp. No idea what to expect. We were pleasantry surprised. Not only is the pizza great, but the other menu items are fantastic. Full menu with brunch and other dishes. The price is perfectly reasonable.

Fire Works is such a great neighborhood gem! No-frills, solid pizzas and pastas. Their combinations are really delicious, and the food always come out promptly, hot and in generous servings. The service has always been friendly, and checks up on us. Their pizzas and pastas are made in house, and on Sundays they have a $15 for 15 wings deal! Will have to return for their bottomless brunch!

Updating to reflect that this is still a 5 star brunch spot! My friend and I came for bottomless brunch (now $28.95 for bottomless small plates and discounted beverages). Here's what we got - - Tartufo pizza - again, amazing, absolutely delicious and decadent - Jalapeño mac and cheese (sans chorizo) - pretty good - Blueberry biscuit - phenomenal and so unique! We were expecting just a biscuit with blueberry jam but this was so much more, and arrived steaming hot - Bourbon pecan style French toast - also delicious and the perfect portion size - Beignets - yummy bite size with two dipping sauces! - Scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, toast - pretty standard, nothing crazy - Pineapple mimosa - standard, pretty good Our server was also wonderful! She was so helpful and friendly, and also was very kind and didn't get annoyed when I accidentally knocked over my beverage . My friend agreed that everything was delicious and that we can't wait to come again!

Tried only gluten free Margherita pizza, and it was quite surprising. The crust was thin which was exactly when we wanted, and the surprising part about it was the sweetness. Both the crush and the pizza sauce had noticeable amount of sweetness to them. Not sure if it had anything to do with the crust being gluten free. It wasn't what we expected but we enjoyed it. I'd order from this restaurant again.
